Mayville High School runs its own Holiday Club each holiday, except for two weeks at Christmas, for those aged 4 — 11. Club activities run between 9:00am and 4:00pm.
Morning care is available from 8:00am to 9:00am and after care runs from 4:00pm to 6:00pm. A light tea is served at 4:30pm for those pupils booked in after care until 6:00pm.
Children take part in a variety of activities, go on trips to Southsea and further afield to Queen Elizabeth Country Park, Moors Valley Country Park, and Fort Nelson. Sporting events include cricket, table tennis, badminton, and football, as well as other activities like bowling and swimming. In the Christmas holidays there are talents shows and Santa visits. Drama and singing activities, kite-making and -flying, along with visits to museums and libraries and the occasional themed party are all part of the holiday fun.
Introducing Mayville Academy of Performing Arts
Mayville High School is pleased to announce the launch of its Performing Arts Academy, offering your children the chance to take part in an Easter workshop and Summer Schools in dance, singing, drama & stage management.
Mayville High School has long been ahead of its time in recognising the intrinsic value of performing arts and now we would like to offer our expertise and facilities to all children in the school holidays.
Our pupils have been taking LAMDA exams in speech and drama since 1985 and we are one the few schools in the South to have been involved in Rock Challenge since its inception more than 20 years ago. This year we are staging High School Musical at the Kings Theatre and our last performance of Peter Pan there saw specialist teams brought in to teach our children to fly in harnesses.
At Mayville we have wonderful facilities, including two dance studios and a hall that can be transformed into a theatre space. Many of our pupils have gone into higher education in the performing arts and a significant number have gone on to work
in the creative industry as dancers, actors and in television.
This Easter we are launching our Academy of Performing Arts with a one day workshop on April 4th, which includes singing, dance and acting as well as an experience of Technical Theatre. It is an opportunity for your children to improve their confidence and fitness, build on the skills they already have and work as part of a team. They will have tremendous fun!
We would like to warmly invite all budding young actors, singers, dancers and those interested in behind-the-scenes skills to take part.
