Creating your own "Typewriter Tales' was the challenge given to pupils from Mayville High School as part of Portsmouth Bookfest.
Pupils who are identified as A, G&T for English and/or Art were invited to a creative workshop in the informal and unusual setting of Southsea Coffee. They were offered a variety of prompts (and cake!) to inspire them to create their own mini stories. As well as using typewriters, they could also create designs with ink, calligraphy sets and stamps to ensure their unique ideas were presented in the colours and designs which best represented their ideas.
Some of our braver pupils even stood up to take part in the open mic section at the end, receiving glowing reviews from other participants.
Miss Jones said "Mrs Stoneman and I were so proud to hear our pupils read their imaginative creations so confidently to the packed audience." Their work will appear in print soon at the end of Bookfest.
