Mayville's Rosie Michelmore's is one of only 15 pupils out of 6700 to receive an Engineering Award for her design aimed at stopping drivers falling asleep at the wheel. Rosie received her winners award for the South England Secondary Engineer Leaders Award, for designing a rear view mirror in a car with a special sensor attached that picks up if drivers are closing their eyes and becoming sleepy at the wheel. The sensor then reacts making the car seat vibrate alerting the driver that they need to stop driving. Rosie says of her design, "I really enjoyed thinking about this and adding things to my design. I'm not sure if I want to be a doctor or a pilot. I am also fascinated by planes and like the sound of the RAF." Congratulations Rosie, how fantastic.
